Facebook's new attempt to take on TikTok?!

Facebook, the social media giant is all set to take on TikTok with its BARS app by targeting young budding rappers. The new app, has been developed by Facebook's New Product Experimentation or NPE  R&D team and is presently available only under closed beta testing. The BARS app from Facebook allows users to create and share raps using built-in tools and the interesting part as per NPE team is that users don't require any previous formal rap experience to create content when they use the BARS app.
In contrast to traditional short-video sharing apps, Facebook's BARS is specially designed for creating rapping style contents, which also happen to include pre-recorded beats that would transform your normal words into professional-style raps. The app also give additional suggestions on rhymes using a rhyming dictionary to keep your flow running and going. Further, there is also a Challenge mode in which you'll get the ability to freestyle along with auto-suggested word cues, which make the app even more interesting.
Once you're finished with the lyrics and expected flow, the Facebook BARS app will also provides you with a variety of audio and visual filters to further enhance your rap content. You'll also get a lot of preloaded tools like Clean, AutoTune, Imaginary Friends, and AM Radio to change your vocal output in the videos to your desired expectations.
The BARS app lets you export your rap videos and save them to your Camera Roll once you have done with all the refining work and also you can share your content with others through social media platforms.
BARS Community Manager DJ Iyer, who also happen to be a hip-hop songwriter and also a ghostwriter under the alias D-Lucks, said in a blog post that the coronavirus outbreak was one of the major factor for developing the BARS app.
“I know access to high-priced recording studios and production equipment can be limited for aspiring rappers. On top of that, the global pandemic shut down live performances where we often create and share our work,” he said in a statement. “So, along with a group of aspiring rappers, we've been building BARS: a place for aspiring rappers to create and share their art.”
The BARS app is currently available for download through Apple's US App Store and is initially accessible for a small number of iOS users only. You can also sign up for the waiting list in the app.
Last year in May, the NPE team at Facebook also introduced an app named Collab that debuted for public access on iOS in December last year i.e. 2020. The Collab was also inspired by TikTok and is designed with a focus on music.
Apart from Collab and the newly launched BARS, Facebook also last year started testing a ‘short videos' feature on its platform to take on TikTok. The company's subsidiary Instagram brought Reels to offer a TikTok-style experience to its present users.
