Google Photos, the popular gallery app used by millions worldwide, frequently gets new features that enhance the overall user experience. The tech giant is now rolling out two new AI-powered features that help reduce the clutter and categorise screenshots and documents into albums.
If you are someone who takes a lot of photos, your photo gallery might often get cluttered with similar images like sunset or group photos. Google is rolling out a feature called ‘Photo Stacks’ that aims to solve this very problem.
The new AI-powered feature automatically identifies and groups similar photos and organises them into stacks. It also selects the top pick that captures what it thinks is the best moment. In case you don’t like Photo Stack’s top pick, Google Photos will allow you to modify the automatically generated stacks and even turn off the feature.
With the latest update, Google says the Photos app will use AI to identify and categorise screenshots and documents in your gallery into separate albums like receipts, event information and ID.
The tech giant says it will make it easier for users to find the photos they want. Moreover, Google Photos will also add reminders to the calendar by extracting information from photos of things like concert tickets. Users will also be able to choose if they want to automatically archive screenshots and documents after 30 days.
The new features are still rolling out to the Google Photos app for iOS and Android, so it might take a while before they appear on your device.
